Midtest for Bahasa Class

It’s been about one month the Peace Corps trainees learning Bahasa Indonesia in BATU. It’s a great experience to teach them Bahasa because at the same time we (me and the trainees) are sharing a lot about the cultures. And today was the day when we had mid-term test for the Bahasa Class. The trainees had had one week to learn about the questions that would be given in the test. The questions was sorted from the easiest to the most difficult (not really difficult I think, because we already learnt everything at the class, and even reviewed it many times). And then the day came. 10 out of 15 questions were addressed to each person then they should respond it as quickly and correctly as they could.

Travis was the first. He tried to make sure that he was ready for the test. And yeah..good job! He was doing well in the test although he got one question wrong: ‘Siapa nama saudara kandungmu?’ and he responded quickly: ‘Umurnya 31 tahun’. Hahaha that’s okay Travis, not a big deal (but don’t do it again!) haha just kidding. Next was Angela, she was also doing very well. She brought her childhood photo with her twin sister. We had Jual Beli (selling&buying) where she could practice her bargaining skill (Travis did the same thing too). It’s like real Jual Beli beacuse we use real Rupiahs! Then, the third one was Andrea. She looked little nervous but she prepared it very well, because I saw her bringing the picture of kata kerja (verbs) and her family photo. She was very honest because she just said ‘I don’t know’ when she couldn’t answer the question. Hahaha bagus!! And yeah..Giovanna was the last who came in to the ‘test room’. When I gave her questions about kata kerja, she responded ‘I don’t know this one, but let me show you the ones I know’ (while pointing out the picture- normally I choose the picture for them). Hahaha no problem ;) And after that..selesai!

It’s gonna be a perfect weekend for all of us because after the long weekdays, we’ve finally done with the midtest. Having recreation and refreshing is kind of the best thing to do this weekend ;) Well done, Pandanrejo Group!! Sempurna!
